Salvage and casualty response has been at the core of Ballard’s business since its inception. Our internal systems are designed around a philosophy of providing rapid, efficient, and safe response to emergencies. Full-time maintenance personnel ensure that when an emergency arises, all equipment utilized performs to maximum capacity.
For the Oroville Dam Emergency Spillway Repair Project, Ballard was the first contractor on-site, with specialty heavy equipment and personnel, all with a mobilized response time of under twenty hours. During the project, Ballard removed 20,000 yards of debris on a 24/7 basis, preventing flooding of the powerhouse.
For the Cheesman Dam Emergency Hydraulic Refurbishment Project, significant hydraulic leaks were discovered in the dam’s in-water and topside gates. Ballard mobilized immediately to perform emergency repairs to the submerged axillary mid- and low-level gates, and the topside jet-flow gate, to prevent gate failure and mitigate environmental impact.
